Welcome to our practice, where we are dedicated to providing compassionate and competent mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and their families. Our practice is led by Colleen Torrence, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with over two decades of experience in the field. We offer a range of services to help individuals and families cope with mood disorders, the after-effects of traumatic experiences, depression, and other mental health needs. Our practice is located in Juneau, and we offer both in-person and video chat counseling throughout Alaska.

We also provide supportive expert court testimony when needed.
  • Child and adolescent therapy: We work with children and adolescents from the ages of 5 through 18. Our approach is enhanced by our past work with children, including serving as a school counselor, working with foster care families, and leading pre-adoptive counseling sessions.
  • Mood disorder management: We help individuals manage mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. Our approach is holistic and personalized, taking into account each individual's unique needs and circumstances.
  • Grief and loss therapy: We provide grief and loss therapy for individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one or other significant loss. Our approach is sensitive and compassionate, and we work closely with our clients to help them navigate the grieving process.
  • Autism and personality disorder counseling: We offer counseling for individuals with autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), or personality disorders. Our approach is informed and respectful, taking into account each individual's unique strengths and challenges.

About Colleen Torrence, LPC, SEP

Colleen Torrence is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) with over 20 years of experience in the field. She is recognized by the state of Alaska as a Licensed Professional Counselor and is also a Type C Certified School Counselor. Colleen has a particular expertise in assisting children and has served as a school counselor (in both urban and rural locales), treated numerous young patients who have suffered from emotional disturbances, and has worked with foster care families. She has also served people with chronic mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries, in residential, educational, and clinical settings.

Colleen's approach is informed, compassionate, and client-centered. She brings understanding and compassion into her sessions with you and your family. Whether you are seeking counseling in connection to trauma, abuse, depression, grief, anxiety, parent-child relationships, attachment concerns, personality disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome, mood disorders, or autism, she will do her utmost to offer the support you need.

Payment Options

We strive to make our services accessible to all, and we accept most insurance plans. We are also recognized as an EAP provider and as a preferred provider. If you do not have insurance, or if your insurance policy requires a co-pay, we accept cash, checks, and credit cards. We are committed to working with you to find a payment option that works for you.
