About Us
As a licensed therapist in Quincy, IL, I, Edward Esselman, have been helping people from all walks of life create positive change in their lives for over 28 years. My approach as a therapist is warm, engaging, and encouraging as I assist individuals to look at their situation, help them sort out their issues, and decide how best to address them. My specialties include relationship therapy, abuse-survival, and sexuality/lifestyle issues.
Services
At Esselman Counseling Services, we offer a range of services to cater to the unique needs of each individual or couple. Some of the key areas we focus on include:
- Relationship Therapy: We help married couples, divorced couples, and those in new relationships to improve communication, navigate conflicts, and strengthen their bond.
- Abuse-Survival: We work with individuals who have survived physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse to help them heal, process their experiences, and develop coping strategies.
- Sexuality/Lifestyle Issues: We help individuals who struggle with sexuality-related issues such as compulsivity, sexual identity confusion, sexual avoidance, and communication about sexual needs in a relationship.
- General Mental Health Counseling: We provide general mental health counseling services, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, parent-child conflicts, childhood fears, and child behavior issues (ADD/ADHD).
- Child and Parenting Issues: We work with parents to address issues such as childhood fears, child behavior problems (ODD), Add/ADHD, and parent-child conflicts.

As a therapist, my approach is centered around empowering individuals to take ownership of their lives and problems. I believe that people have the capacity to find their own solutions when given the right tools, support, and guidance.
