Transforming Lives, Empowering Change
At The Compass Counselors LTD, we understand that life can be unpredictable and overwhelming. That's why we're here to offer a safe, supportive, and guiding presence to help you navigate life's challenges. Our team of experienced and compassionate counselors is dedicated to providing a calm, restorative space where you can heal, grow, and flourish.
Our Story
Founded in 2016 by John Freshour, our practice is built on a foundation of Christian principles and values. John's journey as a counselor began years ago, and after years of experience in the social work arena, he transitioned to private practice. The inspiration for our name came from a quote by Stephen Covey: "A compass has a true north that is objective and external, that reflects natural laws or principles, as opposed to values which are subjective and internal. Because the compass represents the eternal verities of life, we must develop our value system with deep respect for 'true north' principles." Our name symbolizes the objective, external guidance we strive to provide our clients.

Counseling Services
Compass Counselors have received numerous positive reviews from satisfied clients. Several authors, including Angie Luginbuhl and Gina Turton, have praised the counseling services offered by the organization. They have specifically highlighted the excellent work of two counselors, Jennifer and John, who have helped them overcome various personal and marital issues such as insecurity, generalized anxiety, ADHD-stressed marriage relationships, and ineffective communication.
Therapy and Treatment
The therapists at Compass Counselors have provided effective talk therapy and coping strategies to help clients manage their emotions and behaviors. Jennifer, in particular, has been commended for her approach to overcoming insecurity and anxiety. John has also been praised for his ability to build rapport with his clients and provide them with useful tools to improve communication and overall well-being.
Disappointing Experience
While the majority of reviews have been positive, one client, identified as Local One, has expressed disappointment with the services offered by Compass Counselors. Specifically, they have complained about John F., the owner, who they claim is not helpful to elderly patients on Medicare. According to Local One, John suggests that the organization will not bill Medicare and that clients will need to pay directly. This has led to frustration and disappointment among clients who are struggling to get the necessary coverage for their therapy sessions.
