Welcome to Roger Shaw Counseling, where we combine Neuroscience with Common Sense to Achieve Relationship Success. As a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 40 years of experience, I, Roger Shaw, have helped numerous individuals, couples, and families navigate their relationship concerns and problems. My approach focuses on translating new discoveries in the fields of neurobiology and relationship science into practical strategies for healthier, happier, and more satisfying relationships.

Services Offered

My services include couples therapy, working with adults in intimate relationships to address a broad range of relationship issues. I specialize in helping couples overcome long-standing patterns of unresolved conflict and ineffective communication. My goal is to equip couples with new pathways that lead to more successful and fulfilling relationships. I believe that successful relationships do not depend upon finding the right partners but upon becoming the right partners.

Education and Professional Memberships

I hold a Master's degree in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Master's degree in Pastoral Counseling from Lincoln Christian Seminary. I am a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a member of the Illinois Affiliation for Marriage and Family Therapy (IAMFT), and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

Personal Background

Born and raised in Oregon, I moved to Lincoln, Illinois in 1977. I am married to Deborah, and we celebrated 42 years of marriage in 2021. We have two grown children and three grandchildren. I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve their counseling goals and look forward to meeting with you to discuss your relationship concerns.
