Empowering relationships, restoring trust, and strengthening love

At the Chicago Center for Contemporary Psychotherapy, we are dedicated to the enrichment of our clients' emotional lives and to their development as active, thriving members of the community. Our team of experienced therapists is committed to providing high-quality psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals and couples in the downtown Chicago community.

Philosophy

We believe that freeing people from their internal constraints - and helping them develop the skills to improve their lives - is at the center of helping them find greater passion, conviction, and fulfillment. Our therapists work from a contemporary psychodynamic perspective, employing the context of the therapeutic relationship to explore the conscious and unconscious ways a person creates meaning, maintains their sense of self, and relates to others and to the world.

Services

Our team of experienced therapists provides a range of services, including individual and couples therapy, to address a variety of concerns, such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and more. We take a holistic approach, recognizing that each individual is unique and that their concerns are complex and interrelated. Our therapists work closely with clients to identify the underlying patterns and behaviors that contribute to their concerns, and develop strategies and coping mechanisms to address them.

Therapist Profiles

Our team of therapists includes Dr. Kate Schechter, Ph. D., a renowned expert on the interface of psychoanalysis, politics, and culture; Dr. Sarah Goldberg, Ph. D., LCSW, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with a specialization in treating midlife and older adults; Bill Hutchison, MA, Ph. D., a psychoanalytic educator and mentor; and Dr. Ray Noll, MSW, Ph. D., a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in gender and sexuality, political belonging and transgression, and affect and psychoanalysis.

Sliding Scale

We offer a sliding scale fee structure to make our services accessible to a range of income levels. Although we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid, we have limited sliding scale appointments available starting at $75 for those with a demonstrated financial need.

Networks

We are an out-of-network provider for most major PPO plans and an in-network provider for BCBS PPO. Our therapists are available online, via Zoom, or in-person at our locations at 180 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 2413, Chicago, Illinois 60601 and 1525 E. 53rd St, Suite 631, Chicago, IL 60615.
