Our Services
We offer a range of services to cater to the diverse needs of our clients. Our areas of specialization include trauma therapy for adult survivors of childhood abuse, PTSD, and recent traumatic exposures. We also specialize in grief and loss therapy to assist in the grieving process, as well as relationships therapy for couples in all stages of their relationships and individuals struggling with relationship issues.
We offer clinical supervision for beginning and experienced clinicians, as well as life transitions therapy during life transitions such as beginning or ending a relationship, adjusting to various stages of parenting, receiving a serious medical diagnosis, managing the stresses of college or graduate school, considering a career change, losing a life partner, adjusting to the empty nest, experiencing menopause, or considering and adjusting to retirement.
About Our Practice
Our therapist, Jane Abrams, is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with extensive experience in private practice. She provides short-term and long-term psychotherapy to adults and couples. Her theoretical orientation is psychodynamic, but she is eclectic in her approach, incorporating traditional and current approaches to tailor treatment to the individual needs of each person in her practice.
Jane has a strong commitment to ongoing education and stays current with the latest scientific findings and theoretical developments in the field of psychotherapy. She believes that therapy is a process of discovery, and she brings her years of experience, education, and empathy to create a safe and confidential space where you can explore your concerns and build on your strengths.
Jane Abrams' Bio
Jane Abrams is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience in private practice. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. Jane is a certified clinical therapist with a passion for helping individuals and couples overcome their challenges.
Jane has published numerous articles and presented at various conferences on topics such as trauma, grief, relationships, and clinical supervision. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Pennsylvania Society for Clinical Social Work, the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work, among others.
Education and Training
Jane has received her education from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, Simmons College School of Social Work, and Antioch College. She has also completed her training at the Teachers Academy of the American Psychoanalytic Association and received her NIMH Traineeship in Community Mental Health.
Presentations and Publications
Jane has presented at numerous conferences and published several articles on topics related to trauma, grief, relationships, and clinical supervision. Her recent publications include "Neuropsychoanalysis and the Repressed: Rendering what is possible in long-term psychotherapy" in Reflections on long-term therapy, relational psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and "Teaching trauma theory and practice in MSW programs: A clinically focused, case-based method" in the Clinical Social Work Journal.
